Nathan Franklin

Loganville High School Principal

Dear Parents:

We hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the summer in spite of the fact that our summers seem to keep getting shorter! The administration, teachers, and staff at Loganville High School are working hard preparing for the 2008-2009 school year in light of the following information:

• We expect 2,150 students on July 31 - this is almost 200 more than last year!
• Counting additional teachers and normal turnover, we will welcome approximately fourteen new people to our staff this year. Our complete staff now totals 180 people.

Here are some highlights from the last school year:

• The Class of 2008 earned $3,700,000 in scholarships! With our HOPE Scholarship recipients we will be over $5,500,000. The Class of 2008 had over eighty Honor Graduates.
• Our graduation rate improved from 81% to 86%.
• Graduation test scores for LHS students exceeded the state average in all areas.
• LHS students earned many accolades in academics, athletics, and the arts.
• Over 185 students completed Advanced Placement courses and LHS administered over 240 AP exams in May.
• The LHS PTSO and parent volunteer program is second to none! Parents are involved every day at LHS.
• The Red Devil Baseball Team won the State AAAA Championship.

Here are some important dates to remember:

July 29 Schedule Pick Up from 4:00–6:00 p.m. (both campuses)
Students may pay fines they owe, and they may purchase lockers and parking permits during this time.
Students may locate classrooms but teachers will not be available.
July 31 First day of school
August 19 Open House will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at both campuses. This is an opportunity for parents to meet teachers.

We are all extremely excited about the year ahead and look forward to serving your children.

Best Regards,

Nathan Franklin
